if(12:27pm est mon may 24 2004) you could see enough on the tiny screen to make it worthwhile. – by jonathan knight |
vga, we need vga(12:41pm est mon may 24 2004) we need a little larger screen, and vga…would help – by going blind |
you(1:34pm est mon may 24 2004) need a laptop – by bb |
or(4:12pm est mon may 24 2004) how about waiting for the oqo device that will run windows xp natively? aren't there are couple of additional pda-sized windows xp-based handhelds in the works, too? – by bye win 95/98 |
just a gimmick (5:14pm est mon may 24 2004) won't really get us much at this stage of the game. linux vending machines anyone? – by moe beus |
yeah(5:39pm est mon may 24 2004) im putting this on my (preordered) 624mhz axim x30. i bet it will run ok on that – by eddie |
great(6:46pm est mon may 24 2004) the portable blue screen. – by rata apestosa |
wow!(7:43pm est mon may 24 2004) remind me, was there ever any sort of mac emulator for win 95/98? oh, imagine! the unspeakable joy of running emulated legacy mac code on win 95/98 running on my favorite pda! – by i'm in heaven |
emu(9:55pm est mon may 24 2004) for ppc there is apple iie which runs well, but no com port emu. i tried boch and dos box on ppc, couldn't get it to work. plus it has to be in portrait [?]with that display program. [20 bucks] i'm leaning towards getting pocketdos as it will be faster and support vga soon. though it's 40 bucks and i'm cheap. – by dos luva |
Free Windows 98 Full Install
congratulations palmsolo…(12:33am est tue may 25 2004) …for a truely geeky story on a site that's becoming less and less geeky all the time. on a geek scale of 1 to 10, this story gets a 20 ! – by winston smith |
speccy(5:34am est tue may 25 2004) better than mac-on-w95-on-pda, there's a very good sinclair zx spectrum emulator for w95/98 which would be super-cool on a pda! … now where do i connect the microdrives…. – by pumbie |
zx80/81(6:03am est tue may 25 2004) even better than the spectrum: the dos emulators for the zx80 and zx81! hey, this is really exciting! as for mac on ppc – probably no go i think – but soon we'll be able to savor pearpc on the wondrous oqo device – yummy! – by zx man |
w95 – mac – amiga – c64(8:16am est tue may 25 2004) then play paradroid!!!! – by do it!!! |
mac on ppc via bochs(9:47am est tue may 25 2004) it might go (slowly) using assorted golden oldies such as those listed here: certainly worth trying i think………. on a different note – what is the largest number of nested emulators anyone has run on a single system? the best i can currently manage is running a spectrum emulator on the windows psion epoc5 emulator running on windows under virtualpc on my mac. |
why not palm os?(3:07pm est tue may 25 2004) i'm a palm o.s. (4.1) user, and they need 98 (or even better xp)on palm os! i know microsoft makes it but it would be cool… …i'd really enjoy it! – by jake6535 |
content ripoff(1:47am est fri sep 10 2004) a simple google search using terms “windows 95 pocket pc” will reveal how the author of this blurb basically ripped off his text from other sites. how lame. at least change the order of the sentences or something, not just a couple of words. – by jamie |
the green operating system link above(8:40am est mon oct 25 2004) “windows has a lower cost of ownership that linux” this is untrue and m$ have been banned from making this claim in the uk, after the advertising standards agency looked into the costs of both os's and discovered m$ claim was incorrect rant over, |
pocketwall.com(12:32pm est thu sep 22 2005) theres someone that will make windows 95/98/me even 200 and xp ports on pocket pc, hes nick is wall. he is not going to pick up this project, but he will make an own qemu, and it just might be a useable windows :p right now, hes doing a dos emulator, that you can run games like civilizaton, dune2, and soon even dukenukem 3d on. you should check it out ) – by droppen |
nec 780*upgraded to 790*(2:21am est fri dec 16 2005) i don't want to use win 95, 98 on my ppc. it does everything i need it to do more!! i write papers, i surf the net *has a built in modem* i play games on this bad boy. i praise the day i found this lil techy toy. it is so very useful!! why bugger it up with windoze?? just my humble opinion!! :d enjoy y'all!! ciao! – by scarlet~witch |
palm os??? hahaha!!!!!!!(5:06pm est sat jul 22 2006) are you crazy jake6535?? palm-based devices are inferior to all pocket pcs!!! a high end palm-based device probably couldn't even emulate windows 3.1!!! besides… a smart programmer wouldn't even waste his time programming something for one of those pieces of crap…. do yourself a favor and go out and buy a pocket pc!!! you could probably find one on ebay for 10 bucks that could out perform a palm!!! – by matt graham |
So i installed Win98 on a Win2k maching and although i managed to get it running, it took 20 to 30 minutes to boot up.
Well after tweaking the VGA and IPS the damn thing starts up in less than a minute! wow!
The applications within are slow coming up (oh well).
Next, I'm going to install Win98 on my XBOX-DEbian system and see what results i get.
I just need to figure out how to network windows 98 under bochs!??!? Anybody got links on how-to do this i'd appreciate it.
